TAW’s Short-Term Studies

The studies are in the form of reports and aim to discuss interesting / problematic issues emerging from the aid provided during the post-tsunami rehabilitation. The study objectives are to bring these issues into the limelight in order for them to become recognized by and familiar to the public.

With help from one of our cooperation partners, Save Andaman Network (SAN), relevant issues were identified. Freelance authors were selected by SAN, who would then conduct research and write the reports.

Tsunami Aid Watch (TAW) selected additional issues to be explored and studied by its own staff. All the concerns contributing to the short term studies were generated from a brain storming session during a meeting at Bahn Thabtawan, Phang Nga province, on 13th March, 2006. The main target groups, people from tsunami impacted communities, were invited and came along to join in the meeting.

accompanied the Sea Gypsies on their long migration to the Andaman sea of Thailand and Burma, as well as a window onto their current predicament after the 2004 Tsunami.
